Bradshaw Loves Community Service at the North Texas Food Bank

Have you ever wanted to volunteer in your community but can never find the spare time or don’t know where to start?  There are so many organizations, charities and services within your local community that desperately depend on volunteers for the organization to exist. Bradshaw recognizes the value of our employees having the opportunity to make a difference in the Dallas-Ft. Worth community and that is the reason we provide paid community service hours for all employees so that they can be a part of something bigger than themselves.

Last Thursday, seven of us volunteered with the North Texas Food Bank to distribute primarily fruit and produce to those in need in our area.  The North Texas Food Bank partners with smaller food banks and organizations such as the Good Samaritans of Garland and the Network of Community Ministries to provide food for those who are given vouchers.  Our group worked hard that morning unloading pallets of bread, sweets, grapefruit, cucumbers, cabbage, potatoes, carrots and pizza and placing equal amounts into individual boxes.  We then served those with vouchers by placing the boxes of food in their cars as they drove by.  It was already a hot day that morning with the bright Texas sun blaring down but everyone worked with a smile and a pleasant spirit of giving back.  By the end of the morning, we had distributed food to between 80 and 100 cars!  Way to go!
